Paul was commissioned to research specific aspects of the built environment and write white papers. One example was an assignment from the Children’s International Fund Foundation (CIFF) to provide an overview of the EU cement market. CIFF fund work on climate change and the cement sector is responsible for significant carbon emissions. The report looked at the opportunities to transform the sector by first understanding the market dynamics and its composition, where carbon emissions are generated and the innovations deployed or planned to reduce these emissions.
Paul understanding of how cement is manufactured and procured for concrete in house-building and the construction of infrastructure, together with his work with innovative companies providing low carbon cement, meant that he was ideally placed to review the sector.
Subsequently, Paul has become an advisor to CIFF, supporting its work on de-carbonizing the EU’s heavy industry, specifically the steel and cement sectors.
