The edie 100 aims to honor individuals who are making significant impacts in sustainability and climate action across various sectors. More than just a list, the brand-new edie 100 initiative spotlights the most influential, impactful and inspirational individuals working across all aspects of corporate sustainability and climate action – as nominated by colleagues, peers, industry partners and the edie team. Paul was included in this prestigious list, here is how Paul was described:
Dr Paul Toyne is a leading environmentalist and sustainability expert whose passion and knowledge has led to a career connecting the natural and built worlds. Trained as an ecologist with a PhD on goshawk ecology, Paul led biodiversity expeditions, discovered new species (he has a butterfly named after him) and authored scientific papers. His work in Ecuador led to the successful removal of a multi-national mining company working illegally in a national park. Paul continued this campaigning work at WWF, focusing on international species policy, climate change, sustainable forest management and conservation projects.
Over 20 years, Paul has developed sustainability strategies, led innovation and driven industry change toward decarbonisation and regenerative, net-positive places. He led the development of Minoro, an award-winning free online platform for building decarbonisation, now used by over 7,000 users in 107 countries. Paul’s advisory roles included London Sustainable Development Commissioner for the Greater London Authority (2010-2024) and current membership on the UK’s Green Construction Board’s infrastructure working group, Living Future Europe steering committee and the British Aviation Group board.
