This report on the status and distribution of all sub-species tigers was written by Dr Paul Toyne. It was the basis for an international campaign to improve tigers number ran by WWF-UK and other WWF offices and directed by Paul.

The report made a number of recommendations that are still required today, they include stopping the illegal poaching of tigers, improving the protection of tigers within protected areas, increasing the number of protected areas for tigers and creating wildlife corridors for the safe migration of tigers from one sub-population to another.
